How and why did you get into the interior design Industry?
My passion for beautiful interiors and furniture led me naturally to do what I do today. I remember as a child, I was always playing with Wendy houses and making furniture from used yogurt cartons and cutting out swatches of fabrics to make the carpets, curtain and rugs etc.
How would you describe your style? Do you have a signature touch?
My style is mainly anything luxurious and high end with a glamorous finish and or classical modern design combined with rich, textured fabrics, crystals, high quality leafing and lacquered gloss paints. More opulence and away from the normal.
Tell us a bit more about your store. What can design lovers find there?
Before you enter the showroom you know instantly its high end. There is an atmosphere of calm, with luxurious silk curtains, furniture to inspire and a very welcome feeling with service high on the list. Discretion is obviously a given as we often have the rich and famous buying from us. Each room is designed to look like a room within a customer’s home with items placed for functionality and correctness – just like you would find in a luxurious home not a shop. This way my clients can envisage the items in their own home and see them beautifully positioned to show their maximum appeal. Inside the showroom you will find luxurious fabrics, paint finishes, crocodile embossed leather fronts, unusual items like LED wallpaper mixed in with more traditional Italian and French inspired furniture. Exclusive mirrors, lighting and accessories adorn the furniture. Our clients are in the mainly, Chinese, Arabs and Russians with their main homes in other countries.
Is there anything exciting that you are working on at the moment that you can tell us about?
We have a wonderful interior design project for a famous client, which we are so very please to be working with who is allowing us to decorate their amazing home just how we like it allowing us to ensure the maximum impact for their particular style is achieved.
What do you love about being a designer?
I wouldn’t actually say I am a designer as such. I believe one needs to obtain the necessary qualifications to make that claim, but I do have an eye for a particular style. I employ high calibre qualified staff who are designers and work alongside them to ensure the project is managed to the clients high expectations. I know a good design and style when I see it and I demand quality.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from appreciating style and design and the joy of applying my ideas to a client’s project as if it was my own home to produce a relaxing, comfortable and luxurious environment to be enjoyed by others with the immense satisfaction I have produced a sanctuary.
What colors, textures and furniture pieces from KOKET do you love the most?
I love many pieces from Koket but especially those unique items with luxurious fabrics, mixed with gold metal frames. I guess some of the best ones for me, I have displayed in the showroom.
What is your philosophy on design and life?
Design should be something that expresses calmness, relaxation and comfort surrounded by luxury to be appreciated. Life we should enjoy to the full due to the fact we are not here long and preferably within the environment just described!
