The Bank has an area of 430 square meters and is the largest Starbucks store in Europe. Inside you will find a tasting bar 17m long, and on the walls include frescoes telling the story of coffee in Holland in the 18th century.
The Amsterdam concept store is designed as a theater: Visitors watch from their table at various levels down to the 17-meter coffee shop, where everything happens. In addition, this space is to become a forum for the local cultural community. Arranged on several levels with stages and podiums, it can turn into a theater but also in literary salon or poetry reading.

Liz Muller is a global concept design director at Starbucks, and also has Dutch roots. Its task is to give Starbucks’ plans for the future shape. Muller took inspiration for the design of the building itself (the original floors and concrete walls have remained, for example) and the Dutch culture and history.
“The Bank” aspires to become the best Amsterdam place to enjoy exclusive flavors, rare and exotic, some drawn from the “reserve” of Starbucks and never released in Europe. The group will also launch a preview from Amsterdam’s new roasting system called “Clover”. “This is one of the most significant innovations since the introduction of the espresso machine,” says Starbucks.
This is also an opportunity for the brand to diversify by expanding its product offering to eat in. With the development of in situ bakery, the store will offer in different times of the day, croissants, cookies and other specialties.
