Philippe Starck, known as a renowned French designer and architect, unveiled the first images of the luxurious interiors of the Rosewood Hotel in São Paulo.
Set in a historic building from 1904 this hotel project was once a maternity home, it is located in the center of Cidade Matarazzo, a complex of elegant and preserved buildings that were built in the early 20th century.
Philippe Starck has devoted more than seven years to this hospitality project and hotel interior design, having visited Brazil several times to develop a thorough knowledge of his culture, materials, forms, craftsmen and suppliers.
“At first I was shocked. The Matarazzo was so out of context, out of time, in disagreement with reality. A dream landscape, like a wonderful tale, preserved in a bell kept by fairies. This place is immaterial. This is the essence of São Paulo and especially of those who were born here. Finding a gem that expresses this incredible spirit of the Brazilian people and the people of São Paulo is magical. It is a place that immediately plunges us into a dream, into the imagination, into fairy tales that are dear to children and adults. There, anything can happen.” – Starck said. With the reinvention of the “Cidade Matarazzo”, Philippe Starck aims to exploit the innate creativity of Brazil and to emphasize the importance of preserving its natural environments by reflecting its deep roots associated with its modern way of life.
The luxury design of the tower’s facade was designated by the French architect Jean Nouvel and the French entrepreneur Alexandre Allard.
