The extension to complimentary business’ such as restaurants, cafés or apartments, has strengthened the image of other high-end fashion brands, such as Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Armani, because luxury food and fashion are always a perfect combination and no one has shown they know this quite like Burberry’s Christopher Bailey.
The Creative Director of the British fashion staple welcomed fashion industry elites and insiders to the newly opened Thomas’s–Burberry’s in-store café–after his menswear show at LCM.
Curiously, the café is entitled “Thomas”, in honour of the brand’s founder, and is located in the corner of their Regent Street flagship store. Offering an all-day menu, and several other dish and drink options (such as Afternoon tea, with or without champagne), the Thomas café sources ingredients sourced from UK producers, farmers and artisans.
Already being dubbed London’s most stylish café, Thomas’s features clean marble floors, classic wood seating, and shelves filled with the label’s reasonably priced home furnishings; a step away from the pricier items they are known for (still easily accessed on the second floor). The café also has a monograming station where customers can have flat leather designs monogram within the hour, and gifting station, perfect to continue their store browsing, or visit to the new café.
“We wanted to create a space where our customers can spend time relaxing and enjoying the world of Burberry in a more social environment. By blending our new café, Thomas’s, with a gifting area, we are trying something new that we hope customers in our home town of London will enjoy.” – Christopher Bailey, CEO
It is a very smart idea for the brand to connect a bit more with the public, beyond their regular customers, anyone can go in and pick up a monogrammed throw pillow while enjoying a coffee and feeling like part of the Burberry family.
