Today Interior Design Shop brings to you an excellent article by Brabbu Blog talking about the designer of the year at Mainson & Object Asia 2014.
Born in the Philippines (Cebu), already renowned for creating new techniques with rattan, BRABBU introduce you Kenneth Cobonpue, a multi-awarded furniture designer and manufacturer.
His curiosity lead him away to New York, studying Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in 1987. After coming back home in 1996, he was willing to invent “an alternative to the Western definition of modern design” using natural fibers. And so did he start giving shape to his ideas, pairing locally sourced organic materials with innovative hand-made production techniques. Cobonpue’s brand is known around the world for its unique designs and roster of clientele that include Hollywood celebrities like Brad Pitt and members of royalty.
Knowing that one of Kenneth’s approach is Nature, BRABBU digged in all his projects and then we reach one that is an authentic organic architecture design. With bamboo branches and steel hand-tied with rattan to form a cocoon-like structure that morphs into the furniture in the bar, where you may sit contentedly and sip from an impressive selection of wines and champagnes. This is Z BAR by Kenneth Cobonpue.
The whole configuration resembles a Venus Flower Basket, the skeleton of a kind of glass sponge, and totally gives you the feeling being sheltered and at the same time being given the freedom to enjoy the company of good friends.
