The space with two floors and roughly 4,000 square feet that previously housed Montblanc, has been revamped inside and out by the architect Peter Marino, who has designed many spaces for luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Chanel.
Marino channeled the company’s Roman background for his design in this Fendi brand new store, using materials like leather, fur, and Travertine.
The classic Italian limestone first makes an appearance on the boutique’s façade, which, mimicking Fendi’s new headquarters at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana in Rome, features two grand columns surrounded by multidimensional, modern arches.
Then in true Marino style, myriad textures fill the store’s interior. Floors are crafted from smooth Italian marble and petrified Indonesian wood, while walls are covered with stitched leather and fur tablets.
Contrasting these bold textures, Marino keeps to a calm palette of beiges and browns with accents of gold, silver, and white. It brings a welcome touch of Italian flair to Madison Avenue.
The store is the latest chapter in Marino’s ongoing collaboration with the Italian label having already designed Fendi stores in Rome, Beverly Hills and New York.
